i accidentaly unplugged my rca cables from one source and plugged them into my cd player without first turning off my preamp. i heard a little noise come out of my speakers. will this fry my amps or damage them in any way? the amps still work and i don't smell any burning electronics. thanks, john

Probably not. That doesn't mean you should do it on a regular basis. Don't do it at all it's not a good idea

turn everything off. However, your scenario is unlikely to cause a problem, especailly if the volume on the preamp was at zero.
