Which Speaker Cables to Suit Polk RTi9a speakers?

Greetings,
While deciding what amp to purchase, it would be good to hear any words of wisdom on the speaker cable side. While wanting to be sensible cost wise I also would not want the cable to constrain performance. What I need to match quality wise are the RTi9a Polk speakers I have (the rest of the system I am still deciding on). I would like to get the most out of the speakers with classical music in mind. Thinking stereo. Should I think silver?

As a side comment: I heard mixed reviews on the variety of Monster cables and been told on the one hand they are great on the other that they are not. If cost is anything to go by then the latter might be closer to the truth?

Thanks in advance!

are good drop off points. I use them in my Studio and in my portable location recording system.

I suggest contacting The Cable Company, 1-800-FATWYRE. They have well over 57 varieties of cables. Their huge database allows them to research what cables others have found a good match for your speakers. Sometimes you can find the cables in their used library.

Cables are like seasoning when preparing food. It's really the "last step" after everything else is in place and broken in. At least that's my opinion

I use bluejeans cable, and they've never let me down.

Seasoning eh? Well, I better wait as you suggest and get the rest sorted! thanks for all the advise and links to everyone on this thread. I will post what I have once I get it together... That might take a while though I hasten to add as I am simply unable to find a decent auditioning place in Houston with a reasonable choice of brands and types... I am sure there is one (because you seem to be able to find everything here) but it must be playing hard to get... nevertheless, I will find it eventually or go elsewhere for a weekend. Have a good week to you all...javascript:void(0)

This would suggest any well made speaker wire of the appropriate gauge for the length should work.

I sold my 3,000.00 speaker cable and put in magnet wire (anti-cables)

I "think" I hear an improvement but it is prolly expectation bias.

Anti Cable 10' pair was 100.00 but you could DIY it fo 20.00 or 30.00.

IMO wire is the ultimate snake oil and a BIG profit maker for the dealer.

Hi Buddha,

I could barely keep up with all of Keith Johnson's graphs and explanations. I took photos of a whole bunch of them. Where else he has presented this info. I shall attempt to find out.

Meanwhile, I don't recall the thread on which John Atkinson posted the following, but here it is:

Question: There must be some logical reasons why these cables have a positive effect.

John's response: Two article in our website archives attempt to answer this question. First see an essay I wrote some years ago at www.stereophile.com/asweseeit/84 , then a technical feature from Professor Malcolm Hawksford from England's University of Essex at www.stereophile.com/reference/1095cable.

No matter what Keith or John or anyone else says or hears, how many measurements Keith and John take, or how much research is done into how the human ear and brain process sound and why double-blind testing and blind testing fail to uncover significant sonic differences between cables, people will continue to post claims that all cables sound alike, and that DBT is the only true scientific valid way to prove this stuff. Thankfully, many of us have the wherewithal to listen for ourselves and trust what we hear. (Yes, I know all the arguments that declare that we are seduced by price and glamour and prestige and placebo, and are unable to figure this out. God, it's amazing, given all our weaknesses, that we can even tie our own shoes).

Meanwhile, I repeat that The Cable Company (1-800-FATWYRE) is a great place to find cables for comparison. No, I do not receive a kick-back for saying this.
