"Where's the Real Magazine?" A final letter

A final letter, March 2001, Vol.24 No.3

Finally, the following letter, responding to the letter that kicked off this discussion, also appeared in the March issue "Letters":

Fill that empty space
Editor: This is in response to a letter to the editor by Dennis Widman in the January issue (p.10).

Sir, I own a Denon AVR-4800 receiver and I don't think you know what you're talking about. Denon is one of the finest audio companies that I know of. Every magazine that has reviewed the Denon AVR-4800 can't say enough good stuff about it. Did you read Stereophile's December issue, where they reviewed the '4800? I don't think so.

Denon has higher-end two-channel components that are just as good as anything out there, even at 10 times the price. How dare you call Denon "mid-fi components recommended for people who don't like music but have to fill empty spaces in their TV wall units"? I love my Denon AVR-4800, which I use with B&W Matrix 805s. It's not how much you spend on a system, it's how much enjoyment you get out of it. I will put my system up against anything you have, any day.

Perhaps you should fill that empty space between your ears!—Allison Chapman Geraldine, MO, allison268@webtv.net
