It's on only when someone is listening, but I'm lucky: The wife has everything warmed up for me when I get home. No, she isn't rushing home to get my stereo ready, she just has some music playing.

My "big rig" system is turned on every time I get in my car and turned off when I get out.

Pre-amp and front-end componants on all of the time. Class A amplifier on about 3 hours before I listen to music.

Here In India, it is not possible to keep such hi-end audio systems ON due to the erratic power supply and the vast fluctations.

I turn my system, which includes tubes, on about 1/2 hour prior to listening.

I'd rather forgo a bottle of wine a month and pay the power bill than lose the smooth sound I get from my Plinius 8150 and RCD991. Some things you have to pay a little extra for, and if you can notice the difference they're worth it. If you can't notice the difference, turn it off.

After 39 years in the audio/hifi world I still haven't received any conclusive answer neither from manufactures nor audio writers nor friends what to do ... and it is such an important issue ?!?
