It's the season when Stereophile salutes the Products of the Year. You can read about our picks in print this month's (December) issue, or on the Web next week. But in the meantime, what is your choice for this year's best?
They're not on Stereophile's current list for budget components, but I finally had a chance to demo the Audio Refinement Complete Integrated Amplifier and Complete CD Player with a pair of Vienna Acoustics Haydn loudspeakers. The Complete Integrated and Haydn Loudspeakers are tied in my subjective vote for best budget component. The cables were Analysis Plus Oval 12 speaker cables and Monster interconnects. The synergy was delicious! So good that I'd like to recommend a new category: Best Integrated-Bookshelf (Resticted LF) System Under $4,000.
Can't really choose one based on my own experience. I did buy some stuff in 2000, but all of has been available since at least '99. A couple of things that do come to mind is B&W's new CDM-NT series of speakers and Musical Fidelity's A3-series preamps, amps and integrateds.
