Linn Genki, because it makes digital almost addictive! Not bad for a bunch of 1's and 0's.The first time I wanted to keep playing discs.

Ricki Lee Jones - "It's Like This". If you gave this a listen, it would be the CD of the Month, hands down.

OR... Just about everything in your magazine that I can't afford. I can't imagine a $73,000 turntable!!

Technics DVD-A10 DVD Audio Player. It is so nice to finally be able to enjoy surround (on DTS and DVD-V), I just wish the record companies would release some DVD-Audio discs already!!

They're not on Stereophile's current list for budget components, but I finally had a chance to demo the Audio Refinement Complete Integrated Amplifier and Complete CD Player with a pair of Vienna Acoustics Haydn loudspeakers. The Complete Integrated and Haydn Loudspeakers are tied in my subjective vote for best budget component. The cables were Analysis Plus Oval 12 speaker cables and Monster interconnects. The synergy was delicious! So good that I'd like to recommend a new category: Best Integrated-Bookshelf (Resticted LF) System Under $4,000.

Sony SACD It is the best for regular CD's also!! It would be the last component to go against my Levinson and Wilson gear.

Can't really choose one based on my own experience. I did buy some stuff in 2000, but all of has been available since at least '99. A couple of things that do come to mind is B&W's new CDM-NT series of speakers and Musical Fidelity's A3-series preamps, amps and integrateds.

PS Audio Power Plant 600 with Multiwave - nothing else ever made such a big, across-the-board improvement in my system.

Sony SACD Player: Awesome build quality, pushes the sound quality envelope with SACD, matches state-of-the-art CD sound quality.

Marantz Super Audio CD Player. I have been listening to quality audio for thirty years. This is the best front-end I have ever heard, and second place isn't even close.

Sony SCD 777 ES. Reasons: value for money, top quality CD play + SACD as a bonus, two-channel (I don't even want multichannel, because multichannel has nothing to do with serious audio ).

A freezer bag. Someone told me to freeze a CD for 24 hours, thaw it in the fridge, then play it again. I did and I think it sounds better. But I could be imagining it.

CTC Blowtorch preamplifier. The line-stage companion to the legendary Vendetta Research phono stage (an updated Vendetta built-in is an option). This no-compromise custom product is in a class by itself.

Martin-Logan Prodigy!! Oh, I love this loudspeaker. Martin-Logans are simply the best at what they do, period.

Sony SCD-777ES - A great CD player, with SACD as a bonus.
