B&W P5 loudspeakes. The sound for the price! I've listen to many, and none beats the natural, open sounstage in the price range.

Acoustic Energy AE100. Its fast response and punchy bass is great for rock music. Also detailed enough for classical and jazz. Also has the ability to just disappear into the background!

When I no longer had access to professional gear, I needed a high-quality speaker at home that could handle electronic & non-Western music, e.g. live Javanese gamelan recordings, without howling. I purchased Magnepan Magneplanar MG IC & have been happy for years.

Magnaplaner 3.5R's I've been listening to and loving Maggies for 17 years. Can't be beat for the $$$'s!

Angstrom loudspeakers, Omega series 8, 5 and 5C (centre channel. They are used for stereo and home theater in my house. I have an older Velodyne 1012 sub. I have a pair of Cambridge speakers as well as an old pair of AR 12s that I use in different rooms. The Angstroms are a great value with accurate, rich and natural sound. The Velodyne is simply wonderful.

Vandersteen 1Cs They're simple, very listenable, and before the point of (extremely) diminishing returns.

Martin Logan CLS Entec SW10 Subwoofers (2) Love the CLS, but there are a lot better and cheaper subs out there.

Vandersteen Model 2. I love them. They have a very natural, relaxed sound that envelopes you. The drivers are well integrated, so it is a seemless sound. When I auditioned many speakers, they above all conveyed the emotion of the music.

I had a budget of $2000 (and was willing to stretch to $3000), and auditioned in-home about a dozen pairs of speakers, including B&W 803s (used), NHT 2.5is, Maggies, and Apogees. I was determined to get the best sound IN MY ROOM. And I really wanted something more 'exotic' than plain old 2- or 3-way boxes. To my surprise, the speakers that worked best IN MY ROOM were the least expensive (and most traditional) model I tried! I have been living with Paradigm Reference Studio 60s for a couple of years now, and believe that they represent an outstanding value. I don't need the comfirmation of a review to tell me that I made the 'right' choice, but I'm disapointed that I have yet to find a review anywhere, as I really think people should know about them.

I listen to my own designs and creations. Have designed and built 5, 3-way systems. Have published articles in Speaker Builder on 3 of them. Will submit a 4th article in the next few months on the latest design.

Quad USA Monitors plus a little help from an REL subwoofer . . . This is my 3rd pair of Quads in 25 years. In between I have had Hales, Spendors, B&W's and other top performing dynamic designs. The bottom line is that, despite the inherent limitations, the Quad electrostatics have no peer in what they do well---the finest you-are-there mid range in the world.

I own Apogee Acoustics Centaur loudspeakers. I really love them but my heart lies with Martin-Logan Aerius.

Aerial 10ts---what can i say. For the $$$ they are downright scary. Nuff said

I currently have the Psb Stratus Silvers and absolutely love them! It would take a much higher priced speaker like Thiels or Vienna Acoustics before I would give them up.

NHT Super One's. I live in a 20' by 20' apartment. these do the job so long as i don't listen to base heavy dance music or classical. since i don't listen to either, i'm all set. for an inexpensive set of speakers, they sound good and have a beautiful finish (black laquer)

NHT 2.9 like em but there a bit to clinical. next step will be Martin Logan.

I listen to a pair of Magneplanar 1.6/QR in a converted bedroom. I attend a lot of live classical concerts (with little or no amplification). The Maggies are as close to what I hear live. I've owned several box speakers for the last 35 years but once you live with Maggies, you can't own anything else again. I'm buying another speaker to replace my box speakers in my living room . . . the new Maggie 3.6.
