DAC. Plug the USB stick and NAS HD into the laptop. Find a good music player software plugin and you should be set.
alright.dac...which one? how about the cambridge audio stream magic 6 or a marantz na7004 with built in dacs ..anything better??
I just got my sister an Audioquest Dragonfly for $250. It sounds great, it's small, and relatively simple. Plugs into laptop's USB port, and connected to the amp with an Audioquest Evergreen 3.5mm to RCA cable. There are a ton of other USB DACs available. The Ayre QB-9 is one of the better ones for a strictly USB DAC. It cost a little more, but lots of others in between. The question of which one sounds better can be debated.
