What amp for Wharfedale Diamond 10.1s?

Hi, Im about to buy these Wharfedale speakers and I was just wondering what amp people would suggest for them. Im a complete noobie and talking as cheap as possible, less than 40 - 50 definitely! Im not too worried about the quality, as long as they get the speakers to work. Unless I dont need an amp at all, because when ive asked around i keep getting different answer on that. Im not too fussed about the quality of the amp, price is definitely a priority, as I said if I can actually work the speakers without one I may just do that or just find a second hand one. This is just for a temporary buy so I can eventually get a decent one in the future once I can afford it. Thanks in advance!

Welcome, great purchase, and sorry!

Hey Foggy! Welcome! I was looking at those speakers as well and I bet you will really like them! The sad part is that they will sound crappy with a $40 to $50 amp. Real crappy. If you pony up about $300 for a NAD amp, or $215 for the least expensive Emotiva amp, they should start to sing! But a cheap amp will defeat your search for better sound because the speakers will pass along the cheapness. Sorry!

Thanks for the reply! I live

Thanks for the reply! I live in England which I suppose I should have said, but I looked for some NAD amps on ebay and saw one for £55 which I could stretch to maybe. Its lsited  NAD  3020a stereo integrated amplifier, how would that be? As I said im a real noob and I was hoping I could get a temporary half decent amp for the cheap and upgrade properly later. The wharfedales sound amazing for me as they are relatively cheap and the reviews are amazing.

Cool!

And small world, I listen from the computer through a NAD 3040. The 3020 is a sweet sounding classic, I would snap it up if you can! Cheers!

NAD 3020

I used to have two of them and they are decent amplifiers.

The AC power switch kept blowing out on mine; when it went bad there would be arcing in the power switch which caused a buzzing or hum in the sound. Watch out for that.

It may be less of an issue there, since you have 240 volts and only half a much current through the switch.
