We are all endangered species!

Ladies and gentlemen,

it's time for reality check. We are all in the death row! Whether you nocticed or not, we are really endangered species. In my area shoping complexes, we had at least 10 CD and music DVD shops. They all gone, except one. This one also has very few people looking at CD/music DVD sections. The company's main business is in electronics such as TVs, computers, etc. That's how company avoided the closures. However the company is not restocking sold-out titles. I guess it's because record companies are not reprinting them.

They no longer sell CD players! If you look at CD shop closures, this is not surprising. Apple already killed off optical drives. There are rumors that Windows 8 may not support optical drives. Where do you gonna play your CDs and DVDs?

This means that there is only one place your music should go before too late! That's your computers. More specifically, your laptop computers. Laptops are handy, thus good for as music players. You should start tranfering  your CD and DVD contents into your computers before optical drives will vanish. You should keep a laptop that has optical drive or USB optical drive.

Buy 2 USB3.0 hard disks, preferably from different manufacturers as backup devices. Transfer all your CD music to USB hard disks. Make two copies to avoid disasters. Keep a copy in your laptop computer and play from your laptop. Note that laptop is handy. Buy one USB DAC. This shouldn't cost more than a few or several hundred dollars.

Music industry was manipulated by analog industry and Steve, and signed their own death sentence. When DVD was introduced, they should have moved to DVD formats to make files too bulky to download over the internet. Not doing so, they allowed download business thrives and killed off all CD retail businesses.

I don't think spending fortune to play downloaded compressed MP3 songs is any brainer. So analog industry should go as well. I heard that they lobbied music industry not to release higher definition music. They were cheated by their own stupidity! I can only congratulate them!

Thanks Steve. We will hate you until we go to heaven and hear that you suffer in hell.
