A bit. My CDs from the 80s are grim in sound.
I actually have more issues with recent CDs. I have acquired a lot of 80s CDs recently, mostly rock and pop, and they actually sound pretty darn good as a general rule. I.e., uncompressed, dynamic and detailed. Dire Straights, B-52s, Bowie, George Thorogood, AC/DC, things of that nature.
Cheers,

ARCHIVE RECORDING

The WARNING label above was found on the back of Pavarotti live performances 1961-1967 CD issued in 1990. If memory serves the 1960s were the last stage of the Golden Age of recording, you know, RCA Living Stereo, Mercury Living Presence, Decca, EMI, in that vein.
