It's fairly common for a difference to exist between the playback levels of LP's and CD's. The difference is in all the components' output levels. It's generally easier to lower the level of the CD than it is to raise the level of the LP.
Nothing is wrong - as Jan said, this is common.
This is mostly due to the cartridge/phono pre combination. Maybe a little bit to dynamic compression, too.
