You got spyware, JIMV. Get Spybot S&D and run a scan. You'll see.
Spybot and adaware, I'd say.
Perhaps but the adds were all audio related...no problem today.
bots are like that. They target the consumer.
Nothing to do with the site/ forums - definitely spyware or malware.
Spyware & Adware run in safemode will work wonders.
You may need to use ComboFix as well - great program found here:

I also suggest:
1. A good firewall
2. Learn how to set-up a partitian and back-up your drive
3. Good and regularly updated virus protection
4. Turn off cookies from untrusted sources or
5. Turn off cookies completely.
6. Install a pop-up blocker
7. Read about a "free" or "shareware" program before using
I could go on and on but, this is a good place to start.
If you're cheap like me there are free options.
Avira anti virus
Spybot
Adaware
These three with the firewall in my router have worked well for me. Also, I have found Firefox to be better than IE at stopping pop ups and other malicious things. I have also noticed Safari seems to have less attacks than most other browsers.
