Very old school but I always thought Advent speakers should be paired with a Revelation amplifier .. until Genesis came along.

Before Corey Greenburg was touting shaving gear, I remember the headline on his article about an NAD product: "Go-NAD"...I always thought that was a good play on words.
Here are my picks for names of equiptment:
Barking spider subwoofers
Five finger digital
Filibuster loudspeakers
Concentric turntables
Eeep cartridge and matching Jo-Jo phono stage (Think Dr. Seuss)
I'm sure there's more.

B & W. I mentioned to a friend that I was shopping for a pair of B&Ws. He responded, "You can't even afford one BMW, why are you looking for two?"

I mentioned, to this same friend, that I had bought a Music Hall. His response; "Are you going to start promoting concerts?"

Von Gaylord speakers always sounded to me like something from a Mel Brooks movie.
Also, when I was in Hi-Fi retail I sold Spica speakers. Not a bad name per say, but one often misspronounced, with unfortunate results.
Creek, as in up the...
Halcro, sounds like Hasbro with bad breath.

I think "Pathos" is an unfortunate brand name, given the definition: "a quality that arouses emotions (especially pity or sorrow)"

Somehow, having components that arouse pity just don't appeal . . .

The 70's speaker line for Pasadena: Gross National Product (GNP) should have been sold next to plastic vomit and the fly-in-icecube gags.

a/d/s/...Whassup with all the slashes? Of course without the slashes it looks like the short form of "advertisements". Darn fine speakers, though.

Note audio related but I still remember the furor over the Chavy Nova. GM spent millions searching for a car name that would be easy to remember and inoffensive world wide for the Chevy II. Unfortunately, to the great embarassment of GM Brazil, NO VA means "won't go". Imagine being a car salesman trying to sell one, "here it is folks, the new Chevy Won't Go".

If Buck buys some BO, would that be "bang for the buck"?

That's good!

I used to know a cool salesman guy in the Bay Area who used to ask, "Who's Olufsen?" whenever someone pronounced it "Bangin' Olufsen."

It was funny in the right context, I guess.

Lol! Funny but, hardly realistic (babes & sports). I don't like the idea of leaving women out of the picture either (except to pose naked in the background). I do have to omit to getting a little excited when I see exposed valves!

I do think you have something with the cross pol with A/V though.

I've always thought it might be a nice idea to have additional content on the web site (like extra pictures of the components - may be a digital pic of the component from different angles).

NAD Masters. Even worse than the company name by itself. When I discuss my components with people I spell out N-A-D instead of saying nad, or I refer to them by their 'M' designations. My sister came over to watch movies a few days after I bought the player. After looking at the movie screen for a while she finally asked me why 'nad' was on my screen in big bold letters. At that point I couldn't resist telling her it was my new nad master. It was good for a laugh.

I agree, Advent speakers are always paired with a Revelation amplifier system.
