I have an Adcom amp. I'll connect it to. If a receiver I will need one where you can access the pre-amp via RCA outputs so I can use the separate amp. I own already.

I'd like decent quality as it will be driving some Epos speakers. OTOH, it's not my main system, so I'd like to keep the cost under about $500.

On eBay, I see two Adcom GTP500 Tuner/preamps for $199 and $250.

I have an old Kenwood receiver that I use for a similar setup with Epos ELS-3 speakers, and the sound quality is pretty good. You might look on eBay for one for $100 or so. They have a KRV-7030 which is nice, for $99. You really wouldn't need to use a separate amp.

For $499 you can get the Cambridge Audio SR10 receiver, but again no preamp out.
