I travel with a 160gb Ipod classic with lossless files, Westone UM3X and an RSA Shadow amp. with an LOD It all fits into a tiny camera bag.
Great fidelity and great isolation on the plane.
For most trips I simply bring my iPod and some IEMs (Grado GR-8).
I do have a system that I take with me if I'm driving somewhere (like a friend's cabin on the beach) which consists of a pair of Boston acoustics CR67s, an old Rotel receiver and my iPod. But that's hardly "portable" in the true sense of the word.
To go a bit lighter and include speakers, I'd get some small powered speakers like the AudioEngine 2's. They'd fit in a small gym bag and sound remarkable good for something so tiny. Or perhaps, a B&W Zeppelin or Zeppelin Mini.
