Anyone have experience using a toslink signal booster & if so, how did it affect the quality of the original signal (good or bad)? I'm thinking of doing a long toslink run from an iMac (with the signal split so that I can route the signal to 2 different rooms- one about 12' & another about 35'), and was curious whether I could use something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Optical-Toslink-Signal-Amplifier/dp/B000I9... without compromising the sound quality.
I have never heard of the device but could it add jitter??
Especially considering that I'll need to run the toslink cable over a fairly long distance. I suppose I could use a toslink-to-coaxial converter & then use coax cable instead- would this be better? Could the coax signal be split without problems?
