I understand why you feel as you do, RG, but I'm more comfortable with a minimum of "big brother" intervention. Steps like the one you suggest are likely to make things worse instead of better. Boys will be boys, but they can be ignored.

I've never participated in a forum group that didn't have the lion's share of posts in the General catagory. In most cases, the General catagory was ruthless and the most popular.

If we are to have an actively moderated forum then I want to be the Czar, 'cause I'm the only person on the planet that I agree with 100% of the time. Since that ain't gonna happen, I'm for a velvet glove policy. It's the lessor of the two evils.

This is an actively moderated forum. We're just quiet about it. If we decide to change things, however, you'll have my vote, Monty.

Seriously: I am always happy to take and consider suggestions on how to do things better. Thanks.

Dear Members,

Have we grown our community to the point of perhaps needing a more dedicated moderator?

This off topic posting, in many cases, is getting a bit out of hand. There would seem to be some regular posters who obsessively pick apart posts only to lead the thread, and other posters responses to same, into a free for all!

I see no indication of our current moderator attempting to curb these actions, and worry it may ultimately be an undoing of participation by current and future members.

I realize it is hard to stay on topic at times, but a bit of moderation helps set the tone and trains the participants in some form of forum etiquette.

Your thoughts most welcome.

RG

I agree. Could we only allow posts that agree with my opinions? Those that differ from my viewpoint are a distraction from the ideal thread here and a diservice to the audio community.
