Thievery Corporation - New find for me!

As usual, I'm behind the power curve, but I really like this stuff. The Cosmic Game is really etherial, hypnotic, melodic and well-recorded.

Check out this one featuring David Byrne:

Yes, it definately has that vibe, but a decent 2 ch system is all I need to get into this music!

I like the lyrics on the David Byrne song:

"The greater the dB the higher the AC
Psycho-acoustics down in the back seats
Stereo nation, amplification..."

Some of their other albums are quite different from the examples I gave, so watch out. Some of their stuff even has The Girl From Ipanema sound (!!!), but Cosmic Game contains some very engaging music.

"Behind the power curve"? I'll have to remember this one. Yup, you are ... this particular curve happened back in the nineties. Thievery Corporation were the front of "downtempo electronica".
Other bands you might want to check are Kruder and Dorfmeister (KD Sessions) ...

Speechless, Rollin' on Chrome, Sofa Rockers

and Thunderball, who are on the TC label ESL ... Check out their "Scorpio Rising" album

Scorpio Rising, Vai Vai
