This is my system.
PSB Synchrony One
REL Stadium III
Krell kav-400xi
Rega apollo 35th Aniversary edition
Harmonic technologies pro 11 Speaker Cables
Nordost blue heaven RCA Cables

Looks like a good system; the Krell amp would be a good match for the PSB speakers.

Whow I got answer from the boss himself
Now I'm very happy. This I will brag about to my hi-fi
friends

Yes, I feel the Krell amp is great match for the speakers. The REL sub I don't need anymore I think. The speakers play deep enough. The PSB speakers play better bass than any speaker I had. Seams like other speakers I had just put out lots of noisy bass to sound full. Even if this speakers are the biggest I had, they sound the tightest. I have big room, and have given them lots of space. At least from backwall, but also from sidewalls.

The Rega player seams like good match, but still might not be in same class as the rest of the system ?

Do you think I will gain anything if I sell the Rega and the REL, and buy much more expensive CD player, or DAC.

Any tips for cd-player or DAC, that will match my system ?
I like Atkinsons Ayre player :P

Thx again for the answers

Finaly I got a Ayre cx-7e CD-player.
What an update to my system!!
I been trying lots of DACs and cd-players lately.
Last I had was Marantz 7001 and a DAC (hd-10) from Norwegian company called Hegel.
Thx again to stereophile Ayre cx-7e is a no bullshit cd-player. It's the best source I had in my system.

It seams my krell went from 200W to 400W

What a fantastic bass and the tone of instrument are more real than ever. The player also sound more natural than any other source I tried. I will do the MP upgrade some time, but for now I just enjoy it.

Now my system is like this:
PSB synchrony one
Ayre cx-7e
Krell kav-400xi

I have a strong feeling that this is exit for me.
I'm very happy about everything now.

I will for sure continue my stereophile sub.. and read and enjoy it just like before.
I have a strong feeling my CD collection will grow a lot in the near future, even if I have around 500 from before.

Excellent!

It is exciting when a system comes together like this.

Congratulations and enjoy!

As a Krell kav-400xi owner myself, this is giving me a a little upgrade fever... Good to know as my CD player (Rega Apollo) though good, is the weakest link in my setup.

Thx for all the nice comments.
Another comment from my favorite writer and reviewer Mr Atkinson thx

I had the REGA Apollo 35th version. Even if it got some parts from it's bigger brother, I'm pretty sure it was not in the same class as Saturn. I tried REGA saturn some years ago and it was a very good player.
Even though, Rega apollo is a very nice player, right matched. Apollo with Krell kav-400xi was to me not a very good match. I felt it lost some transparency and became little forward (unpolite) in upper midrange and unexiting in the treble. The bass was quite good though.

Krell kav-400 I feel is a little polite in the upper register and pairing it with something kind of warm like Marantz makes it way to polite (warm).
I tried many sources and by far the Ayre player is to me exactly what the Krell needs. It is like a total cleanup everywhere. The bass go much better and tighter. Cause of that, dynamics are better resolved. The midrange is clean and real without being edgy or unpolite. The treble is by far the best I heard in my system. Cymbals, higher guitar strings etc. got the exiting and real sound that I been looking for in my system. I hate when cymbals sound to polite or when all the guitar strings sound almost the same. Even the bass guitar needs a good amount of treble to sound real. I heard acoustic guitars sounding even more real in other setups than mine, but with the Ayre it's much better than before.
Ayre player got it all right

Remember that I use PSB synchrony one. With other speakers things might be little different. That is up to you to find out

I feel I must add a big thank you to this magizine as well. I suppose the following comments will tie into another post in this section about auditioning of equipment or "buying blind". I'm 58 years old and about 20 years or so ago I sold all the equipment I had and forgot about it. I've never stopped loving music though. A few years ago I started buying Sterophile again and then I subscribed. I didn't know it at the time but that was a good decision although I'm much lighter in the wallet for it.

This is where my post ties in with the buying blind vs. auditiong comes in. Based on reviews by Mr. Atkinson I bought a pair of PSB Platinum T8's and an NAD M3 but the M3 was much later. When I bought the speakers I bought an NAD 320BEE (not sure of the numbers remember I'm 58 and I've slept). Well it sounded good but being addicted to this hobby of course it didn't have enough power to drive the speakers. So, based on a glowing review from RJR I bought a Creek Classic. I think it is still my best sounding integrated but of course it didn't have enough power so I had to buy a Musical Fidelity M5. Power problem solved but no good reviews from Sterophile for that particular model although for a lot of other MF equipment. I was happy...for "a while" hence the NAD M3. I also bought a pair of Monitor Audio RS6's thanks to RJR. Next up a Rega Saturn class A rated but forgot who on the staff to thank for that purchase. Great sound and no plans to upgrade to another CD player.

I've left out some universal players and an NAD receiver but you get the point. No auditions before I bought anything above. Stupid...yes of course but left to my own devices I could have done much worse! But I have the staff at Stereophile to back me up and so far they have made excellent purchases for me. So I will say it again THANK YOU!

ps...loved the review of the new Avantgardes...uh oh

Gratz with your equipmnet.

I also love the creek classic. It's one of those integrated amps you hear and never forget.
Monitor Audio RS6 is just a steal. I love them. I friend of mine have RS6, Creek Destiny amp and cd-player. It's sounds fantastic. I got them for him since I read so much good about it in stereophile
He is very!! happy with it.

Your equipment looks like a great value and I'm sure sound fantastic. The NAD amp I have not heard, but NAD always play music
Your Rega player is to me the 2nd best I heard from a digital player after Ayre. At least in my own or friends equipement.

Where would we be without Stereophile

We would be lost with all the other unserious mags (that was a joke )

I agree with fairlane here. The records from www.kkv.no are of a great quality. Not too long ago I invested in the record "30 years fidelity" from KKV. It's a sampler with lots of great music and a fantastic quality. Gives you a pretty good taste of the line of recordings from KKV, and the Swedish mastering technician has done a wonderful job with the record. I think he masters all the records from KKV.

KKV is short for Kirkelig Kultur Verksted which could be translated as Churchly Culture Workshop, but it does not mean that all their music is church related. There's lots of other music as well, and it's all of the same great quality.
