I would go with Rel. Sounds a bit tighter and cleaner though the NHTs are outstanding for the money. On a scale from 1-10, I would give the NHTs about an 8 and the Rel T7 about an 8.5.

If Sunfire is available in your country, the HRS line should be priced similarly and they are amazingly good for the money. In the US the HRS 10 and HRS 12 are $50 cheaper or $50 more expensive than the Rel T7 but are much more powerful at 1000w.

Hi, glad to read yr reply again for my new topic.

Back to previous topic, raised about Kef LS50 or R100 as front(about 2 months ago). I did final with LS50. Just burned -in LS50 with 100 hours. Speakers are great for me (both for stereo & HT)

However, need the sub as adding more bass, sound stage to its sound. Also complete for my HT setup (had used Cerwin Vega but sold to other)

In yr opinon, Rel T7 is better, but not much in yr self -scale (0,5 point in difference). T7 is about 300.00 USD more expensive than NHTB - 12D in my side

However, It is commonly said that Rel sub, alsways be great matching with sound from 2 channels (stereo).

What a pity ! Sunfire brand is not available here.

Matter of room size, also be my major concern in choosing sub.

B12D is 500W, afraid to be very powerful for my small room (about 183 feet)

B10D is 300W, but may not be as good as B12D.

Rel T7 is great as review. I would consider, have to save money for this.

I use the NHT B12D with my Vandersteen Treo speakers, and I think they are one of the best you can buy. The sound is very clean and nice.

It does not go as low as some of the monster subwoofers, but in my medium-sized room it does everything I could want, including some very low organ fundameantals.

I agree completely with com system. I think the NHT is an awesome sub. The Rel is a tiny bit better. I would not stress about the power levels. You can always turn the volume down on the sub to get it to match up to your speakers. I have a 1500w sub in a 150 sf room. It isn't that I need the power, it was just a great deal on that sub. For $300 less, I would get the NHT and feel very good about it. You will be extremely happy. It is a tiny, tiny difference between those two.

Really ? As I checked, very powerful sub should not place in small room as can not deliver/perform its best sound at moderate volume.

Rel T7 is 200W A/B & NHT 12D (500W), I think that both of them is great. However, the most important factor for me is the well intergrated with LS50. You think which is better suites with LS50 ?

I just re-checked, Rel T7 is approximately 220.00 USD higher than NHT -B12D in my side.

NHT-B10D is sold out.

Mine is only a nine inch cube and doesn't go as deep as some of the bigger guys at 22hz. That being said, I spent about 2 days adjusting placement, volume and phase to get the sound just right and I could not be happier with it. But, I have a very small musical sub that is sealed, not ported with an 8" passive and an 8" active radiator on either side. It is a completely different design than most subs I have seen and is different than the Rel or the NHT.

I would agree with you regarding ported subs that you should only get big power with a big room. I feel completely differently when it comes to sealed subs. I don't think you could ever have too much power for a sealed sub, particularly for home theatre.

Thks. As I knew, both Rel T7 & NHT B-12D are sealed sub.

With these only 2 sub, it is quite easy for me. If have budget, goes for T7, otherwise with 12D.

If the $220 makes no difference to you...get the Rel. I do believe it is a tiny bit better but I am not entirely sure you could tell on most songs or soundtracks. Probably 95% of the time you would not be able to pick out the difference between the two of them in a blind test.

I would suggest that the overall sound quality of your system would get a HUGE improvement by changing from a Yamaha receiver to a NAD or Cambridge Audio receiver.

I find almost all Yamaha and Onkyo receivers to be relatively low in their ability to deliver clean undistorted sound with some true "punch".
