Try listening to the Monitor Audio Silver RS6s, and the silver sereis for surrounds too. I have the RS6s and I think they are awsome. They look very good and also have excellent reviews ...and in the article you mentioned too..RS6s are reviewed slightly better than the Dali. -Pradeep
I don't have enough recent experience to make specific recommendations in your price range, but I know for a fact that if you want a surround system, timbre-matching your mains, center, and surround makes a big difference in the results. Having used crappy surrounds with some decent front speakers for a brief period, I can tell you that "pretty much anything" isn't a good idea for your surrounds. So I'm suggesting you look at a speaker "family" and try to get all of them (except perhaps the sub) from the same manufacturer and speaker line.
