State Dept. spends 70 Grand on Obama books

The U.S. State Department has spent $70,000 on Obama's books. Sending them out as Christmas gratuities and stocking 'key libraries' around the world with "Dreams From My Father" more than 10 years after it's release.

Question is:  Is this an appropriate way to spend taxpayers money? Especially with the current economic situation.

But out of fairness the

But out of fairness the article also states

There’s no indication the White House knew about the purchases, which overall represent just a fraction of the nearly quarter-million dollars Mr. Obama donated to charities last year and his more than $1.7 million in overall income. Mr. Clay said book orders are normally made directly by embassies based on “their experience and knowledge on the ground of the intended audience.”

Nevertheless, its stupid spending.  I read the book.  It sucks.  Actually, it is a boring story how this guy really has never kept a friend for very long.  If I knew him in high school I probably would have kicked his ass at a party for being a pretentious prick.

The White House may not have known, or they very well might have known about the book purchases. Who really knows? This administration has "fundamentally transformed" lying into an art form. Obama has lied dozens of times about his healthcare scheme, along with HHS Secretary Sebelius. Nevermind all the lies that has been spread through his Czar appointments.

Eric Holder testified in front of the judiciary that he did not know about Operation Fast and Furious, only to find out that he lied when it was made known that he was being briefed dozens of times a year prior on the Fast and Furious operation. The White House knows that they can lie without impunity because the media has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that when it comes to Democrats, all the media does is genuflect.

So, who really knows if the White House knew or not. I do not trust any of the political hacks that currently occupy the White House. But, on the other hand, they may not have known.

But yes, this $70,000 is wasteful spending whether it be a Democrat or Republican administration.

I remember all the flack Newt Gingrich took from the leftists in the media about his book back in 1996. Imagine if Newt would have used $70,000 of taxpayer money for his book. Media orgasms would have erupted from coast to coast. But with Obama, this is barely a blip on the media's radar.

I read a majority of the book, not all. And your spot-on, the book is boring as hell. I got tired of reading it. A high school dropout could have written a better autobiography if he were popping quaaludes and chasing them down with Jack Daniel shots.

It was actually kind of sad in a sense. The fact that his Mother; Anne Dunham, was a flighty socialist/commie, and you couple that with the fact that she hooked-up with radical communists, its no wonder Obama has the political ideology he has. Nevermind one of Obama's mentors in Hawaii, the self-admitted communist Frank M. Marshall who Obama affectionately refers to as "uncle Frank".

The one person Obama should revere is his Grandmother who basically raised him while his mother was running around protesting against America. What does Obama say about her.. " She was a typical white person." What an ingrate. Wonder if that could be construed as racist, inquiring minds would like to know. Again, the complicit media strikes again. Not even a blip, except for talk radio.

It's also no great suprise that he couldn't keep a friend. If he displayed the arrogance, and hubris back then that he displays on a daily basis as president now, who in the hell could have tolerated being around him? If we only hand a nickel for every time he said "I", "Me", or "My" we would be rich.

You ever notice that Obama never talks about greatness of America and the private sector in the same context? With Obama, it's always the greatness of government programs and the private sector benefitting from government. That's backasswards.

He only maintains useful

He only maintains useful friends.  The man is incapable of having a meaningful relationship with a true friend.  He has no bridges to return to.  Never a good idea.  He will die with a stupid self-absorbed book, more stupid self-absorbed books to come, and a failed United States of America presidency to comfort him.  As for his family, they will be by his bedside because society dictates it is the right thing to do.  There will be no real remorse or grieving.  It will be a show.  The Clintons as well.  It is all robotic maneuvering based on what normal people do.  This is what self-absorbed, egotistic, sociopaths do.  They watch normal people and imitate.

Rectal cranial inversion...

In layman's terms:  You have your head up your ass. Which is a comfortable place for most complicit liberals concerning communists that existed within the Truman administration. Nothing new.

McCarthyism 101 just for JohnnyR:

The term McCarthyism coined in 1950 in reference to McCarthy's practices, was soon applied to similar anti-communist activities. Today the term is used more generally in reference to demogogic, reckless, and unsubstantiated accusations, as well as public attacks on the character and/or patriotism of political opponents.

So genius, where does your 'McCarthyism' claim fit in with my substantiated accusations on Anne Dunham, Frank M. Marshall, or Obama's daddy?

Better yet, Van Jones. Van Jones was Obama's 'green czar' and a self-admitted Communist.

Your not too good at this politics thing are you?

"as well as public attacks on the character and/or patriotism of political opponents."

I guess you must have missed that bit. You, like McCarthy thinks that anything with the word "socialism" is automaticly communist and that anyone who isn't a card carrying polygraph tested "true Amurikun" shouldn't be allowed to speak up about anything. Nice insults by the way, it's just a shame that I don't honestly care what you think since you show your own ass everytime you post on here.

*sigh*  you just don't get it do you?  Carry on with your crazy ranting pal. I'm the only one that bothered to reply to your frothing at the mouth and now you are overjoyed to have a punching bag. I made my point and will move on. Please try to do so with your own life.

So you think there is a big difference in socialism and communism?

..thats interesting. Do you remember the Communist country named the Soviet Union? The U.S.S.R.?  ( Union of Soviet Socialist Republics).

Don't you hate it when that happens. :-)

and that anyone who isn't a card carrying polygraph tested "true Amurikun" shouldn't be allowed to speak up about anything.

Who in the hell advocated that anyone should not be allowed to speak up about anything?? Your words, not mine.

By the way...it's 'American' not "Amurikun"

But we are to believe liberals are as patriotic as Conservatives. lmfao!

Last time I checked, it was the democrats that put forth the 'fairness doctrine' restricting speech. It was the democrats that created 'politically correct speech' When it comes to limiting or restricting speech, the democrats own speech restrictions.

Again, your confused.

it's just a shame that I don't honestly care what you think

I guess that's why you responded??? and quite ignorantly I may add.

since you show your own ass everytime you post on here.

Prove it. Now that's going to require facts, something liberals are not comfortable with. But you can try really, really hard if you apply yourself.

*sigh*  you just don't get it do you?

Sure I get it. Your a political illiterate like most liberals. What's so hard about that?

Carry on with your crazy ranting pal.

'crazy ranting'??

Geoff Kait and May Belt.... I rest my case..

I'm the only one that bothered to reply

But I thought you stated prior that: "you honestly don't care what I think". You must be confused.

I made my point and will move on.

Yes, you have made your point. And that is; your clueless on political ideologies, and clueless on Joe McCarthy. With that said, I agree with you that it would be best if you moveon.org until you educate yourself better so as to not look foolish.

I'm thinking the word "Occupy" and the phrase "Down with Capitalism" along with blocking a USA sovereign port.  No, wrong.  It's not the Tea Party.   You have got to watch this hilarious video.  SNL couldn't have thought this one up.  :)  I think the cock-eyed girl is the main one.

Just seen your post Lamont. Watched the video. It was funny. Yeah, I saw the cock-eyed chick, she looked like a fat version of Jeanene Garafalo. Now that shit was funny, I don't care who ya' are!

Poor John Lewis; he came all the way out there to stoke his socialist comrades only to be ignored. Funny as hell! Those occutards must be racists :-) Well, if not racist, definitely anti-Semetic. They talk alot like Nazi's.

This is simply nothing more than an Anarchist movement at this point. And the sad thing is that Obama, Pelosi, and prostitute patron Eliot Spitzer the ex-democrat Governor of N.Y.

At this point, it's obvious that they were seriously lacking in 'community organizing' skills.

At this point, it's obvious that they were seriously lacking in 'community organizing' skills. Obama will need a job after the '12 election so he should be readily available to take them under his wing after the 2012 election.

Maybe, after it is all over, they will relocate to that socialist paradise known as Cuba. Of course that would leave thier parents with the burden of paying off their college loans that went toward some left-wing degree in multi-cultural studies or ethnic studies that will only put them where they are now..unemployed!

The Hell's Angels are going

The Hell's Angels are going to end up kicking somebody's ass in Oakland.

They really don't have a platform do they?  I wouldn't even consider it a grass roots thing either.  They start fucking around with the infrastructure like blocking ports and shit and somebody is going to end up in a world of hurt I don't give a shit what they want.   I'm just waiting for cholera to break out.  You want to see massive people get quarantined?  I just know something bad is going to happen.

I wouldn't be suprised one bit. I would hate for that to happen for one reason... that would give big sis, bull dyke Napolitano a reason to issue another hollow memo on right-wing terrorism.

They really don't have a platform do they?

Nope, nada, ziltch.. Other than 'payoff my college debt" and "end capitalism" that is about it.

I wouldn't even consider it a grass roots thing either.

Neither do I. NOTHING like the Tea Party. NO similarities whatsoever.

Yep! and just think - all the Government needs to do is send in the National guard and this anarchist shit will end. Never happen under Hussein Obama.

Did you hear about the testing for HIV and sexually transmitted diseases the occutards have been flooding the free clinics for?

For the life of me... Why in the hell is it so hard to to wrap a quote unlike other forums?? It was much easier before Stereophile decided to "improve" the forum.

Well, it works this way, but if you want to break down the quote to answer several different questions within a quote, it still takes the WHOLE quote.

No, not the quote bottom at

No, not the quote button at the bottom...

quote

It is the "block quote" code in the source section while posting.  You know.  The bold, italic, spelling tool, and so forth.  The block quote function should work like the quote button at the bottom of a posted post without showing the source of the quote.  Like this...

"The fucking block quote sucks"

instead of...

The fucking block quote sucks  <--- actual block quote function

All the block quote function is doing is changing the margin.  I guess you can make it useful by turning on the block quote and changing the format like italic or enclosed in double quotation marks but it defeats the purpose of convenience.  It should format it in a meaningful way for you.

sorry Lamont - i just want to make sure i'm understanding you correctly. you wish for the block quote feature to "bold" or "italic" instead of blocking the quote (which is bascially indenting it, what it means to block a quote)?

No problem.  I just click on the double quotation button and it starts the indention for the block quote.  It looks like this...

Double block quote

As you can see it just moves the text to the right a little.  BTW, once you click on that double quotation button it will turn blue and stay blue and your typing will continue in the double block quote format until you hit that double quotation mark again.

k

i'll check, but i'm pretty sure that this is gonna stay the way it is just b/c the block quote function does exactly what its supposed to do, which is block the quote (indent it) -- a blocked quote technically should never really be under 4 lines (otherwise you should just use quotation marks), so if you block something a little longer it should still look like a quote.

also, i believe the functions of the WYSIWYG are built in (unchangeable)

Do you use the blockquote function for quoting other members? or to quote separate sources?

also, you could just bold it using the Bold feature
