The Ohm Walsh 3 was an impressive loudspeaker in its day, but I don't know if the Scott 208 has enough power to drive them well.
Thanks... I'll have to read up more about how power works with amps and such. Do people get two to three amps if they get speakers that need that kind of power?
Oh man. Everything just got more confusing. I never think about watts and such. I still need to learn so much. It says my amp is 32wpc, in the grand scheme of things that is pretty tiny from what I am reading. But the preamp is 36wpc, so does that mean the total is 68wpc that will go to the speakers?
Usually, a single stereo or pair of mono amplifiers of sufficient power are matched to a particular loudspeaker. The preamp does not have that kind of output. A preamp sends a line level signal to the power amp which then amplifies it to drive the loudspeakers. With the right loudspeakers 32 wpc is sufficient. Speakers with a sensitivity of 88dB/1W/1M or more should work OK with that kind of power, especially in a smaller room. The Ohm Walsh 3 has a sensitivity of 87dB/1W/1M, so it is right on the edge.
Thanks for the info. I am getting the basics. I think I am too eager to get something to listen to... ;) its like crack. I find myself spending hours researching brands, makes, models, and everything else HiFi. But it is fun.
you ain't kidding man! Keep us up to date with what you get and how you like it!
