Speakers for smallish room

Happy New Year to you all.

I'm in the process of upgrading all aspects of my system after many years away from listening to higher end audio.  My listening room is approximately 10x15 feet with the speakers along the shorter wall.  I'm currently using a pair of stand mounted Focal Chorus 706V.  Certainly a nice speaker, but I would like to make a step up - and my main question is whether to consider some reasonable sized floorstanding models or to stick to stand mount considering the size of my room.  The Focals are only rated down to 55Hz, and sometimes I feel like I want a bit more in the low end.  Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your input!

sub

2 good choices:  1. go with a floorstanding model - larger woofer(s) and larger cabinet volume will make more full range bass. Or 2., add a subwoofer to your current system.

If you like the sound of your current speakers, other than the absent bass, I would suggest that you get a subwoofer.

I use the NHT B12D subwoofer, and it is wonderful, but given the small room size, I think you would find that the NHT B10D would be the right subwoofer for you.

Just set the filter knob to around 60 Hz, and it will fill in that missing bass from 30 to 60 Hz.
