Audio Joe-
especially, considering loudspeakers, you must listen for yourself. An in-home demo would be the very best audition.
I would suggest that you consider speakers from PSB, Focal, and Wharfedale.
They offer excellent performance.
Thanks I have the EPOS m22i and have always had british loudspeakers, my first were AR94 (not british) followed by kefs 104.2 and Apogee centaur minors. Just curious about the yamahas
Hmmmm not always british I guess 50% of the time
You should be able to find some speakers that are excellent from Monitor Audio or KEF.
No opinions on the EPOS??
I think Epos speakers and their sister company Creek (amplifiers) make excellent products and a good combination.
I personally own the Epos Epic 2 book shelves and find with room gain and proper placement they reach down to that critical 40Hz and wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for speakers under $1000. I pair them with the Creek Evolution 50A integrated and they sound very very good together.
After looking up the specs on your Epos speakers, about the only fault I find is they chose aluminum vs. fabric tweeters.. Though epic has probably engineered them well, aluminum tweeters can tend to sound bright.
Anything in particular you're not happy with regarding your speakers? Unless you're unhappy or are lucky to have an increase in budget.... No reason to upgrade.
I myself do plan on upgrading to Magnepan speakers whenever I can afford that purchase...and they use entirely different technology and design from traditional "box and cone" speakers. It is because of their radical design and subsequent severely improved imaging that I wish to upgrade at some point when I am able. As for traditional speakers, in the under $1,000 price point, it will be difficult to better your Epos.
Cheers,
Ron
Thank you, my next upgrade will probably be Martín Logans which I've been after for quite some time. Any idea on the Yamaha Soavo 1 loudspeakers?
Martin Logan speakers would be an excellent upgrade....similar actually to my choice of Magnepan.
Unfortunately, I am not aware of the Yamaha loudspeakers; while Yamaha has not been promoted here much, that isn't to say that they may have a compelling product and I defer that answer to another member who may have knowledge on them.
Best Regards,
Ron
Finally decided to keep the EPOS and buy the Soavo 1 speakers also !!! I will keep two Systems !!
Ron-
I'm curious about your intention to upgrade to Magnepans. Which model? You've given me some great advice so far and I value your opinion.
Do you plan on using a subwoofer with the Mags? If so, which one and why? I have the Rogue Sphinx and I'm currently trying to audition speakers that you and others have recommended (Monitor Audio Silvers, BW's, Wharfedale Jades, etc) in addition to the Mag MMG's and .7's. Bass response and clarity are important to me, but space comes at a premium- hence my oft stated dilemma.
Fantastic speakers, next level. EPOS are very educated speakers but like toys compared to the Yamaha.
