I'm going to go for "Badder Santa" meets "Hundred Acre Wood"....

An evil objectivist handing out candy to little kids.

Most of whom I know by name, ditto their 'rents.

We had some of the kids' school buddies over and the moms hung inside and the hubbies gathered round some Webers we set up in the driveway for a "Trick or Meat" option.

After they did a round of trick or treating, the kids set up a little scary gauntlet of spider webs and strobe lights and theater smoke and would lie dead as trick or treaters approached, then as a kid would reach for the candy bowl, all the monsters would come to life at once, screaming like banshees. It was quite amusing.

As kids would be going up the front sidewalk, we'd tell their grown ups what was going to happen so they wouldn't worry, and then we'd offer brats, hot dogs, and burgers.

I was surprised by the turnout. We went through all meat on hand; about 50 burgers and 100 dogs and brats.

Then, some of the parents came back after they were done with the kid supervision and joined the fiesta. Two guys were guitar players, and they knew some songs in common, so that was fun.

Kids made it to the witching hour, then we started to wind things up.
