Hi, The Rega decks all use Airpax or Premotec branded 9904 series AC synchronous motors. Late decks use the upgraded Premotec 9904 111 31813 which is designed specifically for turntables and has lower vibration (and power) than either the Airpax 04082/31813 or the Premotec 31304 used on current Goldring decks. You will need to get the correct frequency for the mains in your country (US 60Hz / Europe 50Hz) and possibly change the phase shift capacitor and voltage drop resistor. For the 3.5W 31304 motor the capacitor value is 0.39 microfarad and for the 1.8W 31813 0.22 microfarad. These motors often turn up cheaply on ebay with the power supply board.

Hi, I am looking for a replacement direct-drive motor for a British JBE III T/T ref MKL 153B I think it is an 8 slot 24 pole or visa versa. Can you help me find who made and or makes an alternative of high quality. Tony

Your info is excellent. Good work. Does anyone know if I can replace my systemdek iix motor (9904 111 31807), 110v, 250rpm, 50 hz. with a motor pulled from a rega P3. I know the voltage and rpm are the same but will the spindle pulleys be the same gauge and height.

AirPax used to be a Philips div. the numbering sequence on the motors you listed are Philips catalog numbers. You could serach Philips as well as Airpax. Airpx stuff is available in Newark catalog www.newarkinone.com Maybe Allied www.alliedelec.com I recently got an Airpax ckt breaker for a Hv supply from almost 20 years ago, Airpax still makes a lot of the older stuff it looks like. It works, why change it.
