Setting up a mac.

Hi out there.
I have a problem with setting up my Mcintosh 1700 to my MC 2505 amp.
The only output on the 1700 is either the tape output or the speaker terminals.
The 2505 has two plug in jacks for input only.
Can I use the tape output to run into the amp?
Any help would be appreciated.

The McIntosh MC2505 is a stereo power amplifier...

while the McIntosh 1700 is a stereo receiver.  The tape jacks on the 1700 might have the correct output voltage and impedance to feed the 2505, but I am confused as to how to arrange this topology.  You could also use a speaker level to line level converter which might be easier. http://www.amazon.com/XANTECH-SLLC1-Speaker-Level-Converter/dp/B000P0UE38
