They sure dressed cooler though...

Plus isn't that era of 95% of the music you listen to? All recorded on all-tube analogue?

Yeah, and if I wanted to hear what are on 2" master tapes from the studio, I'd need a machine that is as big as the wall, thus DIGITAL brings back the studio tapes to the rest of the people. I'm sure back then, listening at home you didn't hear what was on them tapes, nor did you SEE what was in the studio, like you do now with HD. And HD cameras are not as big as the original TUBE obsolete color cameras like these used. I remeber when car radios had TUBES....nothing like a 6V tube cr radio!!! Let's wait till the car radio warms up, aaaah, that mellow tube sound of AM, crackle, hiss pop....Digital is what let's us now decades later HEAR was are on those original ANALOG 2" 30 IPS tapes, without DIGITAL recordings and processing, you would never get to hear what those tapes sound like. Even MF ain't got no 2" Ampex at home, maybe he should if he really was an ANALOG hero, cus' they recorded it on TAPE not LP's transfers like he seems to insist sounds better, I bet he could get an Ampex or Studer tape machine that would smoke his $100K TT, that is not even gonna do what a DSD redo of those tapes from the studio....MF needs to move up to TAPE, from teh studio....since the rest of us can't we need DIGITAL DSD.....even teh mics have improved cus' of digital and materials science....too bad the music has gone to crap.....real music WILL make a return. Dave Clark Five are Poets, compared to 50 Cent and Beyonce garbage

Besides your digital source, what else in your system is digital?

Where does the DA conversion take place at Chez DUP?

If it's not "at the speaker," then you have a majority analog system, eh?

And look what a KORG MR-1000 or similar modern devices can do, it used to take a unit bigger than a bath tub to bring full fidelity of teh original event, now it's hand held, low powered modern devices...things do progress. Now we need all teh musicans from teh 50's and 60's to make the real music not teh garbage being made now, cus' it ain't music, it's thugs pretending to be musicans, retards in a studio, with zero abilty

Just speaking of the recordings source, since without that, there is nothing to reproduce in the rest of the system. And digital systems do it with less mechanical issues, an old Ampex or Studer large tape machine would needs big gobs of mechanical repair, maintenance, parts wear out, DIGITAL reduces the mechanics to a minimum, a button, a hard drive...large tape units are mechanical beasts..Digital, it's what saves the music from extinction....BUT, has teh library of Congress yet adapted DIGITAL as a medium of being able to maintain it all. They did last I read don't recognize it as a medium of long term storage, like.....VINYL, but then analog tapes self destruct, even kept under perfect conditions, where as DIGITAL should hold up, optical discs stored in perfect conditions, will they outlast tape? Vinyl may last forever, but it still ain't got the ultimate FIDELITY of teh original tape, LP looses way too much of the original data, and adds too much of itself. Crack Sanp pop, hissssss

"Crack Sanp pop, hissssss"

Yes, at your house.

It probably does sound that way at your place. I've seen the pics!

So the VPI 16.5 vacuum cleaner is no good? Nor is the MK III? hmmmm, and not that long ago, VPI was so wonderful Actually most of my vinyl is pristine shape, original stuff, it still ain't as good as SACD/DSD. Some sound very, very good, but the same thing on SACD sounds FANTASTIC...Vinyl, it's for pipes and siding, not recording music. If digital is no good how come DVD or HD looks so much better than VHS tape?....hmmmm?
And as mentioned before a brand new out of teh wrapper "audiophile" LP from one of the high profile "audiophile" sellers of teh most was WARPED right out of the wrapper, never never never had that with CD, SACD or DVD...only Vinyl that truly is such a fine feature of high priced vinyl. It plays fine but it shold not be defective if they charge premium price, sell it as such a premium product..it's all hype BS....DIGITAL, it keeps the warps away, smaller discs, mean better control...less warps through better technology. Speaking of warped.....thinking an LP sounds better than digital is very warped. MF puts it on a 10 cent CD-R...and everyone knows....it's from a $100K TT. How great is DIGITAL, for 10 cent$, it can reproduce such sonic acurracy? What will they think of next?
