I've been using an old NAD 5100 CD player, which I absolutely love. Unfortunately, it is on its last legs now, and refuses to play all but the most pristine condition CDs. I'm looking for something a little more modern that wouldn't have any trouble playing burned discs or discs with a few blemishes, but I really really love the sound of the NAD. I'm hoping somebody here has listened to a 5100 and could recommend something similar. My budget is sub-$400, but would be willing to pay a little over that if I must. Any help appreciated!
Check out the $350 Marantz CD5004, reviewed by Bob Reina last March - www.stereophile.com/content/marantz-cd5004-cd-player - which has superb error correction.
