Recommendations for improvements to my basement audio setup

Setup:

Powerbook G4 (playing mp3)
Technics SL 1200 (vinyl)
Pro-Ject Tube Box II (Pre Amp)

Mackie 1202 mixer

Sony STR K740P receiver

Cerwin Vega AT 10

Overall I am happy with the setup, plays MP3's fantastically through iTunes.

I'm a bit underwhelmed with the performance of the Technics SL 1200.

I'm thinking I should add and equalizer, amp, or better quality receiver.

Can the vets of this forum offer some equipment suggestions.

I buy from ebay/craiglist, and am open to well built, warm, vintage gear.

You can definitely do better than that Sony...

what's your budget?

What kind of cartridge do you have on the Technics turntable?

  It looks like an

It looks like an Audio-technica AT 90CD

Budget $400-$600

I'm thinking integrated amp or power amp.

I don't need a radio or a volume control because of the mixer, and I don't really care about a sub at this point (I have a sony sub that came with a home theatre setup currently hooked up)

Thanks

mixer...

The mixer adds a layer - are you sure you want/need it?
