Decent cables on the cheap - bluejeanscable.com. I've been pretty happy with them.
Try used Plinius amp; my favorite is the 8150. The newest integrated Plinius is 9200, which can be found pretty easily on Audiogon. I also recommend Primare integrated amps. These two are very sweet-sounding SS amps with plenty of power.
Budget cables: I recommend Anti-Cables, or entry level wires from Cardas.
You might consider buying an inexpensive 5.1 surround sound reciever for your HT needs and let it feed a nice integrated to power the two front speakers. For high quality two channel music you simply use the integrated amp. For movies, you use both, letting the recievers center and rear surround amps power those speakers. Best of both worlds.

thanks to everyone!!!
can you recommend a good 5.1 ht receiver to go along with the integrated amp?
Rotel, Arcam, and B&K all make receivers worthy of music that will also drive the more difficult loads presented by high end speakers. Those should be the top three on your list for Home theater receivers.
I've used Audioquest for years 3 or 4 different generations. I've tried lots of other brands but to me the Audioquest is relatively affordable and very neutral. Many of the other "audiophile" cables I've heard act as subtle EQ's, coloring the sound.
If you go with Audioquest cables, find a (used) pair of King Cobras for about $100. Many of us did the step-by-step upgrade with AQ cables, and in IMO the KC is a significant improvement over everything below it in the AQ line. Wide soundstage, plenty of defined bass, good mid and hi freq detail, and they are easy on the ears. For the $ they are terrific!
