I just bought Paradigm 90P`s and also bought Energy Audyssey A5+2`s. Dont know which I will use yet for my fronts. Have a Bic Venturi 15" sub and (at present ) have Bic Venturi Cinema rears and now am ready to buy a receiver. I am leaning towards the Onkyo 805 because of it`s price (900.00 ish) and because it has 130 watts per channel , true HD, 1.3 HDMI , Audessey speaker set-up , and almost all of the regular receiver options . I havent heard about any problems with them yet .Is this a good choice ?
A repeat of my Tweaks 'n Tips post.
Onkyo is doing a lot of things right in capturing good marketshare, but I suggest waiting another month or so for auditioning one item from Denon's "08" series, specifically the AVR 2808, which is reported to have the same functionality as the high-end 3808 and 4308.
SRP for the 2808 (110 W., True HD, HDMI 1.3) is $1199. Tendency is for Denon product to not be discounted as heavily as Onkyo, but there is an upside to that with regard to resale.
