Ray Samuels RS Predator only has 1 year battery warranty

Rays site stated yesterday " The Predator has a life time warranty, parts & labor, the battery has 3 years. The customer will pay shipping both ways only. The warranty is transferable to any owner."

Ray Samuels Audio.

Now he has updated his website to reflect the warranty I was advised was really the "true warranty", regardless what his site may say.

New qoute "

The Predator has a life time warranty, parts & labor, the battery has one year. The customer will pay shipping both ways only. The warranty is transferable to any owner.

heres an email from ray trying to justify this

Do you have the new charger that has Red light when charging & turns to green when the battery is fully charged?

If you do then I will replace the battery for you free of charge. If you have the old charger that has NO light what so ever on it then that was the charger that we stopped shipping with the old battery that we no longer have.

The new charger & the new battery have to replace both of the old ones. I am sorry for not up-dating my web site as I have no time for that & your unit is almost three years old on that battery which still is operating but is not giving you the longer playing time.

Please let me know what charger do you have with your Predator.

Since the Predator is a recommended component, I feel my stereophiles friends deserve to know the truth, base your future puchases carfully knowing that any published web site info from RS may not reflect the actual deal.

I have a running thread on head-fi, which is gathering steam, and getting comments from respected members of that forum. All I was asking for is the 3 year warranty be honored, I asked Ray if he had records to indicate my purchase date, as that info I have long lost. If it has indeed been over 3 years I will have no issues paying the $61 replacement fee(includes shipping), but from his email reply, it appears I am still under 3 years.

My predator is holding a charge for about 12 hours of play time atm, it gets me through my work day, but barely.

Thanks for reading my post. I look forward to everyones comments.

Thanks Bret

Resolution

Just received an email from Ray, he was able to find an original battery, like the one that came in the earlier predators, it doesn't need a new charger and he will replace mine for free, as it is still under warranty. The newer versions have a revised warranty, now the battery is only covered for the 1st year, which as Ray explained to me, is only covered for 90 days by the manufacturer, so he is taking a risk by providing even a year. Cheers to Ray for working out a solution for me, because it did appear for a while, that I was stuck paying for the newer battery, neither of us was really wanting to budge or waiver.

Even Better

Ray really comes through, cheers to him !

here is the note I just got ...all I can say is Wow !

Hi Bret...

I just saw the thread that you have on head-fi, no harm done as I had to take some time to find you the stock original battery that goes with your charger. I feel sad that I did not put all my time to find the battery fast enough but I did not neglect your e-mail.

I meant no disrespect to you in fact now I am thinking to do this, send me the charger with your Predator & I will replace both with the new version of battery/charger just to make you happy.

All free of charge including the shipping fee.

Cheers.

Ray Samuels
