Interesting stuff Buddha, I suspect you're onto something there. Will be interesting to see if others can corroborate at all.
Not quite sure what to make of the results of your impromptu 'FLAC PRaT proj' (for someone who lives in IKEA-land that seems to be just crying out for a spoonerism). As we discussed in the other thread you were not hearing the full fat 24/44.1 audio through that Thingee thingy, have you subsequently listened through a hi rez capable DAC? Just trying to work out if this might be resolution-related or just down to the physical medium..
This is an interesting subject.
I have noticed while tweaking my system, that the less "in my face" the sound was, the slower it sounded. Lately (2 days ago) I added a new balanced interconnect between the CDP and the amp, and after adding this cable the sound is somewhat more "in my face", thus sounding faster. (Do you remember me talking about being able to play louder at some point in the tweaking process? That was at the time when it sounded "slower")
It has been reported in several tests of really great equipment that the test listeners said "It's like the music is playing slower."
I am looking forward to hear what people think relating to the subject of this thread.
