Perhaps you are forgetting you read "AV" recievers handle digital audio, and most recievers today are AV recievers. It is difficult to find "Stereo Recievers" any more which is what the Outlaw RR2150 is.

I am new at this, obviously, and am interested in beginning to build a better system. I was wondering what is the deal with digital coaxial and optical cable in audio systems. The Rega Apollo has these connections for digital audio, but the Outlaw seems to only have analog inputs. I thought, from reading, that receivers now work with digital audio, but this must not be entirely true. What am I missing here? Who is lying to me?

If you're wondering about the RR2150's ability to play digital files .... yes it certainly can. On the back there is a USB port. I can play any file from my PC or stream audio online with it.

You can always download the 2150's PDF owner's manual, which answers about anything you need to know about it.

cheers
