If you wait just a bit more, Oppo will have the new Blu Ray player.

It does Blu Ray AND SACD. Pretty killer...
yeah i had heard about their blu-ray player which can play pretty much any disc made, but i just don't need a blu-ray player. but it is pretty exciting for something to be coming out that can play so many different disc types.
I'm also more keen about the Blu Ray version because the chassis looks a bit more substantial, beefier than the DVD players. That's one thing I didn't like about the current players...
Kal Rubinson has written about these newer models in recent "Music in the Round" columns: see www.stereophile.com/musicintheround/108mitr/index1.html and www.stereophile.com/musicintheround/508mitr . In both cases, scroll down the page to get to the Oppo coverage.
(Wow - 1000 posts to the forum!)

I have the Oppo DV-970HD in one of my systems and it plays CDs, SACDs and DVD-As very well. And its a very good DVD player. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the Oppo DV-980H for an entry level music system.
I have it too, although I am dismayed that it truncates and transcodes DSD to PCM.
going to be getting another player soon, hopefully
this may seem like a dumb question but i'm just curious as i don't really know. When it comes to a digital source like a cd player like this, does the chassis make any difference in performance or is such a thing purely an aesthetic thing. Does a bulkier, heavier component have better sound to it? or is a thin little component able to do the same thing?
Will the 980H decode DTS?
yes, all of them do, I believe.
