an HT bypass.

If the AV receiver you choose allows you to separate the pre and power sections there is a solution. Connect the front left and right preamp outputs to the tape monitor in on your NAD. Connect the front speakers and your two channel sources to the NAD. Play two channel music using the NAD and only the front left and right speakers. For surround/MC set the volume control on the NAD to unity gain (usually around 50% volume) and select the tape monitor. Use the volume control on the AV receiver for all volume control with surround/MC sources. All MC/surround sources are connected to the AV receiver.
An added benefit of this approach is that the front left and right amplifiers on the AV receiver won't be used. They tend to have weak power supplies and will benefit from not having to power the front L & R speakers. Of course if the NAD has an HT bypass input use that instead of the tape monitor circuit.
The AV receiver that I was looking to hook-up to the NAD integrated amp was the Onkyo TX-NR609 http://www.onkyo.ca/model.cfm?class=Receiver&m=TX-NR609 That receiver has one pre-out. Is that what you mean? It seems to only be one plug. Please let me know if that would work.
I guess that another solution would be to purchase an A/V receiver that plays audio well. Yesterday, I listened to a NAD 747 ($800) and it sounded great.
Thanks for the responses.
