Oh, and Lamont, what are you thinking? Was it or was it not a nuke?

I like that. Kim Jong Il is in tune with the world to be having existential angst over his impending demise and who will carry on his legacy, so he thinks "Ah...Fuck all" and starts launching rocket tets and exploding things.

If he really thinks he has so little to lose, why not really start the party?

Hell. Screw the little rocketry exhibitions and bang bang, invade the South and go out in style!

Well, I'd be very happy if that guess was wrong. Because if it's not, I live in Seattle, the only mainland city that he can reach with his nukes.

I don't give a fuck if it was a nuclear test or not. Kill the fuckers and lets be done with it. Buddha's right. The United Nations will write a nasty letter to North Korea. Nothing will change. North Korea will continue to start shit in the region. Here is my imitation of Henry Kissinger...

I do know that North Korea has a damn good state sponsored $100 dollar bill counterfeiting operation. The only outfit that can detect and destroy the bills is the U.S. Treasury Dept. I would love to hear what KBK's interpretation of that connection might be.

North Korea, or the Chosen in its own language, is a country of indomitable men and women. They are strong, independent and hard-working. They shake hands with an iron grip. Their names are short, their cabbage is fiery, their national pride knows no limits

Sort of leaves out that the North invaded the South and that it took a million Chinese troops to reach the results, way overstated, by the author.

Sources? Family who were there for the whole ride. Approximately 20 family members. Plus others. The kind of sources you'll have to search out on your own. This is not some conspiracy forum, so the work belongs with you, if yo should so choose to look.

The history of psychology and people is that - if you don't believe it, then it matters not what is put in front of you by others, you will disagree regardless.

If you go and search it out on your own..then you have a chance of believing , of understanding - what you are looking at.

My grandmother, for example..walked around in the wreckage of the Firestorm of Hamburg..and the aftermath. She watched people eat their own family. Not too many wild dogs running around then, as you might imagine. ('Here, little puppy!') Things got pretty rough. The Russians killed half the survivors who walked out of the wreckage of Hamburg. There was a fork in the road, you see..half of the people went one way..and half went the other. That's the tip of the iceberg.

This is Germany I'm talking about, not Korea.

Besides, I'm not talking to a forum, I'm talking to someone named Lamont who seems to have a need to label people. He also seems to want me to engage in some nasty battle with him, one full of name calling, etc,. Sorry - no, Lamont.

That's really nice Lamont. Good luck to you on the reality trail. Maybe you'll 'get it' someday - but I seriously doubt it.

It's all yours Lamont. Go forth and write the history books. Don't forget the second world war started in 1939, not with Pearl Harbor, like American texts for School Kids tend to say.

Re: North Koreans = Rabid Dogs?

I lived in Japan and used to speak Japanese fluently and, going back to the race question, I have to say that I am always amazed when Asian people bring up the race card: they are some of the most racist people on the planet. In the old days in Japan stores would show and sell their best stuff only to locals, like in a sushi bar today when they reserve their best pieces of fish to Japanese. They have names for white people. They'd never mix with the white population. Marrying a white man for a Japanese woman was/still is the equivalent of marrying a black man for a white woman in the US. Although I admire their culture, their art, their work ethic, I cannot really say that I like them.

OMG, really? I'm SO solly Gloss Patig, we so lacist. We sell sub par sushi to white people so Asians so terribal! What are we thinking when white people so nice to other races!

Let's face it. All races have a propensity toward racism, Asians included. Even among Asians, the way the Japanese raped and massacred Chinese/Korean/South East Asians systematically during the wars ranks way up there with other genoicidal acts. The Japanese right-wingers are perhaps the most revolting political group, with their denials of war crimes (they're willfully changing children's textbooks, as we speak, to soften their role in the WWII, etc.) & racist agenda. And look at what goes on in African countries like Rwanda.

I just didn't want to have that post about the racist Japan (although the country doesn't really get a sympathy vote from me, either) stand by itself. Let's not even go to how luxiously the French treat the Algerians or the way so many of them caved in to the Vichy, its Milice persecuting the Jews...

No one's innocent, dude.

WWII ended in August of 1945...war crimes trials ended by the early 1950s, about half a century ago...why not speak about the Kaisers troops raping Belgian nuns or re-argue the need for the War of Jenkins Ear.

Racism was endemic in the USA two generations ago and is pretty rare today. Things change. To rely on ancient wrongs to justify bad law and behavior by the once oppressed today is counter productive.

Put another way...we need to get over it or we will be like the Irish refighting Elizabethan wars and Cromwellian wrongs 300 years after the offense was over and done with.

I would love to believe that this is true, but it's not. I grew up surrounded by racism, saw it everyday of my life, still see it and hear it, to disgusting degrees, today. It's naive to think that racism in this country is "pretty rare."

Sorry, no, that's not the case. I wish it was the case, but both overt and covert racism are still epidemic today, and not just from white people.

I'm married to a person of another race (in fact an asian race, who was born in Mississippi and raised in Boulder, Co, to give you a sense of the social aspects), and one or the other of us has been asked:

Is it true about those asian women?
Do you speak english?
Why do all you whites think asian women want to be your slaves?

Re: North Koreans = Rabid Dogs?

I grew up in the deep south and attended a southern university long ago. overt racism was pretty well beaten out of the South by the mid 1970's. I was around for the school desegregation riots in Boston in the 1970's, when the rules on race began to be applied to the North. I have lived in a score of states, 4 countries on 3 continents, and now live in Idaho, coming from Maine. Today where one lives is less important to racism than how large and how many minority populations live in a region or city. I lived in Maine for a decade, a Lilly white state that had zip racist tendencies toward blacks but considered their native American population a little less than equal. I lived in Long Beach for two years and found Asian and Hispanics as the groups mistrusted. In France there is no problem at all over blacks but Arabs are considered lower than segregationists in the 1950's south considered tenant farmers. Often the folk who are the loudest decrying racism against one group turn a blind eye about racism directed by themselves at another group.

All that is written to say that I do not believe 'where' one lives is as indicative of ones communities tendency toward racism as who it is politically correct to dislike.

We have moved from it being OK to consider blacks as lesser folk to it being OK, to target Christians, blond's or rural whites.

Trust me...America today is way way less racist than America of 1950...or 1970. Simply no comparison. Where we fail is in wanting to pretend old wrongs justify new wrongs. That is the route to a society like the middle east or Ireland of the 1970's. Nothing is ever solved or put behind a society when every wrong is carefully cherished and brought out like the orange marchers in Belfast every year as a reminder of those old wrongs.

One thing that's equally as annoying as those race baitin' minority politicians and PC celebs are the people who now believe the white people and the Christian majority are actively being persecuted by some conspiracy. Lay down that plastic crucifix and get off that pity trip. Life ain't too bad for Christian white folks in this country the last time I checked.

This is just the other end of the extremist thinking that you despise, the one you say people 'carefully cherish and bring out every wrong' of the society.' Old wrongs do not justify new wrongs because simply, wrong = wrong. Sure there are despicable people who trumpet out the past sins for their political gains, but there are also the despicable people who bury the lessons we should learn from the past simply because those days are behind us. The rational way to go about is to mind our history, it's the only textbook we have. Like some others have pointed out in this thread, racism still exists, shocker of all shockers . There's that cliche "history repeats itself", and like almost all cliches, it's a cliche because for the large part, it tends to be true. There is nothing new under the sun, and the history is cyclical. If we do not mind what terrors happened in the past, what will we do if such ugliness rears its head again?

It's naive and foolish to say all those days are behind us.

People are like Sneetches, if there were no readily identified groups to hate, we'd make something up.

It's a little funny, sometimes. If left to their own devices, Christians will hate other Christians, Muslims other types of Muslim, etc...

Audiophiles will segregate into solid state vs. tube camps, or subjectivist objectivist, woodie/fuzzy, sharpener/leveller...

Luckily, in America, we have guns to help keep the peace.

I have an idea: How about we allow everyone to own guns, however, they have to make a choice: either you can own a gun or drive a motor vehicle. Can't have both.

This way, we won't infringe on the 2nd amendment rights, all the yahoos can sit around and rub one out to their guns and they'll be contained and prevented from mixing with the general population.

Well, Grosse, my father is French Canadian, and I am from the french areas of Northern Ontario. Where none of us speak French - we just speak English with a bad accent. They have a street in Montreal with my Family name. We are originally from the Orleans area of France, from the mid to late 1700's..

I am genetically, as well, as a Conan (and Conan Character!) book would call it in a most colorful derogatory manner, a 'Hook-nosed Shemite'.
