Newbie with vinyl records and turntables need the basics please help!

Hello all,

First off I'd like to say I'm very impressed with the members on here. Very respectable, very helpful. Anyways I need some help. Below I will post where my turntable is currently set up. I need to know if that's ok,  or if it should be moved. I jumped the gun and got a brandnew record that started skipping in a week and I dont know if it was because of me or if it was like that when it came. So I got a new one, and now Im very hesitant to play any of my old records, because I'm afraid I'll screw them up. My question for all of you is this: Is that location ok? What are good rituals to perform before you play a vinyl? What is a good cleaning product to use before every use? (VERY dusty room) How to get dust off the turntables mat? And just any general advise on a new comer with vinyl records! Thanks!

Can't help you with the inadequate info you have provided...

sorry!

Make and model of all gear. Room characteristics. Listening preferences.

TURNTABLE

It may very well be that your tracking force is set too light.

This is the greatest cause of mistracking.
