The Planet is a pretty god CD player..I am not sure the replacement is better. You might consider a new DAC instead and use the Planet as a transport.
Welcome, and wow. Fortunately for you - your current and proposed systems are beyond "Entry Level". Might want to repost that in another section here.
JimV, the Rega is getting a bit old, and have had quite a punishment from my kids playing kids CD on it. If I were to retain it, I will probably need to get it serviced.
BillB, thanks for the comment. I will try to repost it in another section for advise.
which probably is not everyone's cup of tea and probably less available to someone downunder. But if I had $10K I'd start with a mint pair of used Magnepan 1.6QRs sent in to Peter Gunn for his Magnestand modification (approx. $3400 total). These have been favorably compared to $45,000/pair Wilson MAXX 2s, and the Magnestand MG12s I listened to side by side Vandersteen 5As were every bit as good as the 5As, except maybe for the lowest octave, and in some ways better.

For the source I'd look at the Jolida JD-100A CD player with the Underwood HiFi Level 2 modification for $1,850.

For distribution and power how about a Jolida Musical Envoy preamp with the Underwood HiFi Level 2 modification for $2,190, and a pair of Emotiva XPA-1 monoblock amps for $2,000.
