HFNRR (HiFi News nowdays) is no longer available in the DFW area on the bookshelves. It's therefore been awhile since I picked up a copy of the magazine. The last time I did so, I was quite disappointed in the magazine I had once held in high regard. Gone were the informative articles and actual reviews of audio gear replaced by mindless same ol' same ol' write ups. Any chance the new owner will return the magazine to the days of the "firebrands" such as John Crabbe?

Good news that it still has a place, and IMO is the best European audio publication.
Jan, you should look at it again if possible as I find it has the most content of any audio publication, with some novel articles and good opinion pages.
What I love is the historic backbround articles of bands from ex NME editor, of a specific historically or audio important album including the various remasters released and their differences, to also that of reader's systems and their trials and errors.
Just this month they touched on in their reviews and opinions about USB and the affect of missing isolation (galvanic isolation) from their experience and on measurements.
For me Paul Miller and JA are the best editors, and this is reflected in the quality of both these magazines (subscriber to both, and 3 other audio publications) that IMO are the best.
Cheers
