Did anyone here participate in the Beta? I was invited but decided not to since I'm not big into video. I WILL end up buying it for the BluRay and as a backup DVD-A/SACD player in case those formats go extinct. (I'm keeping my old Oppo universals for just such reasons. So I'll have three available).
Is this better on music than the older Oppos, or pretty much the same?
Dave
It is not going to downconvert/transcode like past players did.
I'm getting this player for sure, since I need a Blu Ray player anyway... the fact that it plays SACDs on DSD is a very special icing on the cake. One thing I'm wary about is buying a 1st gen of anything... I'll bet they'll come out with another model in less than a year that corrects the errors of the 1st gen player.
They seem to be pretty good about doing firmware updates to address issues too, so maybe concerns will be addressed that way?
I did contact oppo about this unit, apparently it does convert all high res formats to a 2.0 analog output. What im not sure about of course is the quality of that output.
This unit sparked my idea of going HDMI into a high quality receiver. I decided against that in the end.

Does anybody have the skinny on price? Nothing on the link.
Thanks.
The beta units were offered at 499, they are aiming at a 599 retail
