Did you get yours DUP?

I find it interesting that the very best recordings that I've made so far are my old D2D LPs. I've done a little live performance, but not great events yet, just me screwing around on trumpet. I'll take it to the Rocky Mountain Trumpet Fest next November and hopefully capture some great performances.

Try changing interconnects and sources. It's amazing how it reveals even subtle differences.

I'd like a little better quality in the inputs and outputs and some better internal shielding, but it's very good right out of the box.

Yup, I was playing with it earlier, copying CD stuff just to get a feel for how it does what it does. slick slick slick, easy to work, works as promised. Small light weight well made, I got a good deal I think $949 shipped delivered, I got the last one at the place, now they don't show it anymore it showed one in stock when I ordered it. I'll have to try it for some LIVE recording sometime when I get some www.mattoree.com My mics are coming in next week. but one is on BO AKG 2000B This littel box shows what modern 21st century electronics can do, no heat small compact, and just works. a $100K TT can't do what this thing can do.....And it's not made in China either....Just priced without teh BS associated with "audiophile" nonsense attached.

I've got an AKG 2000B. That's a very good mic that works well with the Korg.

My $2500 TT challenges the Korg. I don't get your point about a $100K TT. The Korg is a great digital device that finally rivals analog.

Someone needs to work on the input and output stages get the noise levels down to the best audiophile or pro levels. It's only at a consumer/musician level. The digital side is incredible, but noise is noise and needs to be addressed.

Anybody know a modder that'll take on the Korg?

That thing looks pretty nice. Some day, if for posterity and convenience only, I see myself getting something like that to record all my vinyl. It's a long way until retirement for me (maybe 30 years or so), but when I'm too feeble to lug a 1000+ records around I'll be wanting to have it all on my 25 Terabyte ipod that will plug into the back of my head!

Yup, it's coming storage is cheap and getting cheaper, fidelity is improving on the cheap storage devices. If KORG can produce a device that retails for under $1000 and it's not made in China, and it functions flawlessly, includes software, good documentation, etc etc etc, it means that so can others, and the ones that try to pawn off $24K CD only PLAYERS with made up nonsensical BS about how some magic electron resides inside are just rip off scammers, and not really interested in improving state of teh art in music recording and audiophile products. Hi end doesn't mean just hi priced, unless you are uninformed about what is real. Advancing hi end hi fidelity should be about keeping it reality based, improve the performance at mortal prices. Lotsa good companies do it. Then there are the scammers, marketeers, and criminals. How bout' the lable changers on overpriced pieces of wire, MAde in U.S.A.? Nope made in China, re tagged, yupper, high end, no high criminality. support reality based high end, and it does keep getting better and better, and cheaper. 10 years ago who'd a thunk you could record/playback DSD for under $1,000. Everything electronic gets better cheaper more user friendly. Except the nonsense makers.

The only complaints I have seen are of noise (as Dave mentions) and no digital I/O. I am particularly surprised that there is no digital input, but this may take more to implement than I appreciate.

I love the switch in the back: "limiter on/off".

While the Tascam DV-RA1000 is quieter, sounds a better, and is more versatile, the Tascam is more expensive, does not have built-in mic pres, and is bigger (transportable rather than portable). The size and battery operation mode of the Korg are worth the trade offs for many. It's great to have good choices.

The Korg is a very neat critter and amazing for the money. To get a better sounding portable, like the Sound Devices units, one needs to spend a great deal more.

Dave, it will be great fun to get your reports after taking it to trumpet fest. A trumpet ensemble is tough to record well - huge dynamic range and tremendous high frequency energy.

If you ever get the chance, try ribbon mics on brass (you will need separate mic pres to get the quiet gain necessary for ribbons). Ribbons are phenomenal on brass.

The 2000B is a great entry mic. Soon you will want more; recording is just as bad as audiophilia.
