as I don't like my music sneaking up on me from behind.

What about BeoLab 6002s?

I think BeoLab 6002s work with a different frequency, so I was told that they won't work with the 8002s.

Are there any other brands that can work with B&O? What are some other good brands that look good too?

speakers with the 8002s as main speakers?  Looks like they should work well together.  What do you mean that they work with a different frequency?

I have no idea - the person I was talking to in Bang & Olufsen store told me that 8002s work in effective frequency range of 48-28,100 Hz where as the 6002s work in 45-27,600 Hz range. Now, how is this a problem or whether this is at all a problem? I don't know.

In the mean time, I am wondering if there are other brands which are comparable to Bang & Olufsen in terms of looks and quality.

That guy is just being silly (or stupid- take your pick). Of course the other ones in the line will work, and further, you need to consider exactly what rear channels do anyway. The sonic range of rear channel information, movies or music, is nowhere near full range usually. It's part of the overall mix, and important sure, but I'd be greatly surprised if what is back there ever goes below 60hz even, and stuff above 27,600 Hz? Not often!

The 6002s will be more than adequate. Just try and match the height obviously, or maybe a little higher perhaps than the front channels.

As an aside, the thing that gave me the most effective boost in my surround system was getting another center channel for the back. Many movies now come 7.1 already and it's amazing!

It's another world when you are rich enough to get someone else to do your posting for you on a forum....... Hope he at least has you over for a drink and movie some time!
