Hello,

This is my first post on Stereophile. Been a long time reader of the magazine and have really appreciated all the helpful info - especially the Recommended Components issues!

I own a handful of sealed vinyl LP's from 30+ years ago that I want to have transferred to CD. These are titles (mostly gospel-oriented) that were never released on CD commercially. I don't own a turntable at this time, so I need someone else to do this for me.

Can anyone here recommend a vinyl to CD transfer service that uses good high end gear for the best results? If possible, I'd really like to find someone who uses the Linn Sondek LP12 turntable (or something in that same quality ballpark) as the source and a really good A/D setup on the other side.

Thanks in advance!

I have a Phillips CD recorder that does an excellent job and use a Music Hall MMF-7 turntable with Benz Micro Ace cartridge, and get very good results. I have done many transfers to CD.

I would do it for you, but since I don't know where you are the logistics are in question...lol (I am in Southern California). If you would get them to me I would do it at no cost to you.

You might want to consider buying a Music Hall USB-1 turntable, which can play the discs thru any available amplifier and also will transfer the music to any computer via its USB output. Once they are on the computer you can burn all or part to a blank CD-ROM disc for use in any player.
