need powered speakers for desktop computer...

i wanted to send my uncle some powered speakers for his computer. couldn't remember what you guys recommended to the last guy. was it audioengine A2 or something like that? thanks in advance, john.

Yes, folks including me have recommended them enthusiastically. Best I know of for $199. There are other good choices out there too. See Audiostream for some more reviews.

they terminate in a single 3.5 mm plug right?

Yes and

They have inputs for standard RCA plugs in addition to the 3.5 mm jack.

Speakers

I have used the Audioengine A2 speakers for about a year, and they are very good.

I have them connected to my PC with the included 3.5 mm stereo cable, and run a cable from the RCA jack on the back of the left speaker to a small subwoofer.

The RCA jacks and 3.5 mm jack on the rear are directly connected to each other and can be used either way for connections.
