All of the SoundSpace systems were overpriced lifestyle junk designed to compete with the likes of Bose and B&O. I worked for a company that sold them and I was glad when my store was NOT chosen to be the flagship Nakamichi store for the chain. We were only "cursed" with the clock radios and smaller shelf systems. Yes I said cursed and I meant it. When Nakamichi discontinued these they got a sever case of amnesia with respect to their ever having existed.

A review in Forbes (http://www.forbes.com/2002/03/22/0322tentech.html) describes it's performance on music as "adequate." For the $16,500 price consumers deserved far more than "adequate." When the guys at Forbes who know nothing about sound basically say it sucks, that's something to take seriously. It would be easy to put together a more musically involving and compelling system for a tenth of that price.

I don't mean to come off as a complete assh@!e, I'm just giving you the straight dope. However much your friend is offering to sell it to you for it's too much. We'll all be glad to help you put together a system. For all of the bickering that goes on around here most of the people are genuinely trying to be helpful.
