I just unboxed my new music hall mmf-5. As this is my first record player, I have no real reference point to judge the quality of the setup. I followed the instructions exactly but had a little of difficulty setting up the tone arm. I finally got it working and I think the records sound pretty damn good but I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions to insure the best setup. As for my components, I have a denon DRA-345R receiver and and a pair of tannoy pbm-8's left over from my dad's recording studio. thanks for your help.

If you bought the TT with the supplied cartridge - usually the case - then the hardest part was done for you and you're probably OK. In any case, do take Jeffs advice and buy Mike Fremers fine DVD. The ProJect turntable he sets up as a demonstration has the same arm as your turntable, and the DVD is worth watching whether you're a beginner or have been around turntables for a long time.

Great advise from Jeff And Cheapskate. You also stsrted out at a much higher vinyl playback level than most. You will love that table. Roy Hall does a great job of making quality vinyl playback affordable. For most people you are spinning vinyl in 5-10 minutes.
