The only way to achieve significantly better results are going to be a dedicated 2 channel room. At that point and with your apparent budget, you are going to just do whatever you want from scratch. Should you decide on a dedicated 2 channel room, you are in pretty good shape as over the last 15 years (my time in the hobby) as tube amps have come to once again become predominate in hi-fi at most budget levels, speakers have become more and more sensitive. Which is great because the difference in 89db/1w/2m and 90db/1w/2m is the difference in a 10 watt amp never running out of steam and a 50-100 watt amp struggling a little. And at your budget you can afford one damn fine 10 watt amp that will be far better for most music than your Classe.
Mostly, I don't think you'll be satisfied trying to shimmy a 2 channel system into your multi-channel at the level of fidelity you want.
Thank you for your thoughts, Jgossman. I'm afraid a dedicated 2-channel room is not a possibility, nor is a tube amp as my electronics are in an enclosed but ventilated cabinet. I'll simply have to make due with more or less what I have. Life is hard sometimes...
